April 28th: School OutEarly Due to severe rain and high water. April 29th: BOB & MIKE'S 31ST BIRTHDAY!

April 28th: TAKS Test was cancelled and students went home around 10 a.m. and teachers could leave at 11 a.m. Severe high water and little drainage were the main reasons. We will have to make up this day in the summer. Ugh. (I got a great nap)

P.S. Forgot to tell you about my 61st Birthday April 23rd. It was a great day. Flowers, cards and many hugs were unique on that day. It is a blessing to have great players and students who care about you. Great celebration.

April 29th: BOB & MIKE BRYAN'S 31ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
WE SENT MATCHING ELVIS CARDS SIGNED BY PLAYERS!
WE ARE GRATEFUL THAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FOLLOW BOB AND MIKE FOR NEARLY TEN YEARS. We remember when we watched them play on the side court at Westside---a thrill---it is still a thrill today to support them at River Oaks & Davis Cup . We are blessed to have a professional tennis family care about our program and our players.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB & MIKE BRYAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#1 ALWAYS TO US!

Busy time since Bob & Mike were in Town at River Oaks

April 27th, 2009
Tennis Players still practice after school and I walk the track.
JaMarcus gave us a scare--- passed out in a classroom-- Mom took him to Dr. and usual tests, CAT Scan and MRI--everything checked out ok. Ja Marcus and Barkari want to go pro and sometimes forget to eat at lunch, stay after school and go to local courts to work on skills. We have to balance all aspects of Health.
A week ago Monday, Mr. Mc Shan, member of the Board of Directors, came to the courts to meet my players and see first hand what we practice on-- courts over 30 years old in dire need of repair. Hopefully his promises will become real before I die. Seemed very sincere!
Few folks owe me tennis clothes-- majority A OK.
Video taping of classroom went well last Friday-- also took photos outside under a big tree.
This last weekend, my father in law celebrated his 90th Birthday. A Blessing. Has been in the hospital, broken ribs, nicked artery and damaged lung. His new location is " Country Living" in Angleton. Mother in Law goes up every day to feed him and encourage him to work hard to get better. Alot of family attended his celebration Sunday--- a great experience.
This is TAKS Week-- We are ready!

4/11/09 BOB & MIKE WON FIRST PLACE IN DOUBLES: CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIP: RIVER OAKS

We were so proud to watch Bob and Mike win tonight. It was our 4th day at River Oaks in five days and we knew that this day was coming.

We were there in 03 and 04 when they won the Masters at Westside. So glad to be part of the action at River Oaks this week.

Again, we made connections with folks who love tennis. My seniors were able to talk to the P.V. Coach about starting in the Fall. Talked to Wayne's sister, Sara and her husband and daughter from Calif. We had met before in Portland a couple of years ago. So many great folks came out to cheer for Bob and Mike. Also, talked to a man who is going to donate rackets to our program. Wayne, Bob & Mike made us feel so special all week. Dreams do come true.

We are living our dreams on and off the tennis courts.

Have a Blessed Easter.

CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIP: TENNIS: BOB & MIKE ARE IN TOWN: SUMMARY OF APRIL 14, 15, & 17: ROOTING FOR THE BRYAN BROTHERS:

Ms. Lang and I have taken players every night to support and Bryan Brothers. This benevolent tennis family adopted our tennis program over nine years ago and they have opened many doors for us over the years.

River Oaks is a beautiful place to watch professional tennis. The people are friendly and the tennis is beyond description. We have cheered and rooted for our adopted family. Dad, Wayne Bryan ,has always met us and made sure we had a great quest. We have watched Bob and Mike warm up, been fed by the Wayne Bryan, met alot of nice folks who also love tennis and have gotten lots of autographs from the pros playing. A variety of personal objects were signed and the players were thrilled. Parents & Administration has been very understanding, due to the fact that we have watched 4 to 7 hours of tennis all three days. School police are always waiting to get us safely home.

We gave Wayne Bryan the Excellence Award from the NFISD Board of Directors last night. Our two seniors, Camille & Joshua did a great job. Wayne and family appreciated everything that we do and inspire us to be the best. We are proud to be their adopted school in Houston Texas.

We were at the Masters at Westside when Bob and Mike won two years straight, but they have never won the Clay Courts. We strongly feel that they will take the Clay Court Title tonight at 6:00 p.m. We are looking forward to this afternoon--(I am getting better at all the texting that I am receiving from my players and parents.) We are all excited about the possibility that could and will occur tonight at River Oaks Country Club.

It is not too late to get tickets------ we would love to see the stadium completely full of folks--- this is history happening. Today's back to back singles semifinals and the doubles final will be televised live by the Tennis Channel.

We will get back with you tomorrow concerning our quest this Sat. afternoon.

Tennis Notebook: BRYAN DISPLAYS BIG WALLET, HEART.
Youngsters benefit from generosity of dad of doubles stars
Wayne Bryan's wallet is a little light this week, but that's the price a man pays when he decides to befriend an entire high school tennis team. Make that an entire hungry high school tennis team. Bryan has become a huge supporter of coach Loretta Hrncir's gang at North Forest High School, where tennis doesn't get much funding. Bryan invited the whole gang out to the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships Tuesday, then took them to the Beck's Prime tent for hamburgers.

Previously, he has picked up the expenses for Hrncir & a couple of her players to attend two Davis Cup ties, the final in Portland where the Americans won the cup in 2007 after a 12 year drought and last month's first rounder against the Swiss in Birmingham. " I had to buy at least 15 burgers, maybe 20,",he said of the feeding frenzy. " Good thing I brought my credit card. I love these kids, and I love Loretta. What a great job she does. We'll do it again."

PS: Bob and Mike received the ATP World Tour.com " Fan Favorite Award" for the fourth consecutive year Thursday night. WOW--- WHAT A THRILL! BULLDOG PROUD.

April 6th: Crazy Day for District: High Winds & No Ride!

Started off with problems concerning transportation. Some how we were forgotten. So we made adjustments and got everything worked out. Barbers Hill Director waited for our players.

Johnathan, LaShun and Joshua made it out of the first round of district tennis. Bakari & JaMarcus lost to the 2nd seed from Barbers Hill. Both guys were over six feet and rushed the net-- with the wind-- we could not keep the ball in and get it over their heads. Bakari & JaMarcus fought back to win a few games. We wish Barbers Hill and Kingwood Park the best on their quest for regionals in Huntsville.( Very hard district in which to compete)

Everyone gave their best and this has been the best year for me in a long time. It is a joy to see players grow, mature, learn and take responsibility. Ms. Lang & I enjoyed our journey this year.

BOB AND MIKE BRYAN ARE IN TOWN AT RIVER OAKS; MEN'S CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIPS. Dad, Wayne Bryan is the Announcer, and we are looking forward to our next quest. We leave at 3:45 p.m. in Bob and Mike Shirts , jeans & tennis shoes from the tennis courts. Want to catch James Blake at 6:00 and Bob and Mike at 7:30 p.m. Wayne Bryan always highlights us as their adopted high school and we feel so very special. We are blessed to have this family in our lives.

Thanks for reading our blog and being involved in our piece of the world.

April 4th: It is quiet before the storm!

We had our last week of after school practice and all went well. Johanthan & LaShun stayed after Friday to work out and I walked two miles on the track. ( Yes, my ankles are swollen today-- feel the pain) Husband called and said that we were needed to take the Lien to Karate Practice and of course, Mai tagged along. Lien is six and I am floored by the progress she has made over the last year. Mai (4 years)and I found the pool--- yes, I said pool in a middle school in Cy Fair. We were very interested in the activities. This will be my 14th year to teach in KISD-- summer swimming program. I am always looking for ways to improve this summer program. This year we will not be at Klein Forest-- but, will be at Klein High School. There was a bond passed and they are making improvements on the Klein Forest Pool. I thought that it was perfect. ( closer to my house and husband taught there 26 years) Life is change and one has to be flexible.

Gave my booster talk to my players Thursday and Friday. We have an opportunity --the best in four years-- to place and be able to go to Regionals in Huntsville. On any given day-- someone wins and someone loses-- we have worked hard all year and the dedication and determination is within my players. Either way-- it has been a great tennis year-- and we will be working just as hard next year. We know that we have been blessed with folks that care about us and want us to be successful on the court and off the court. ( District in Monday in Barbers Hill-- going to be a long day and possible playback Tues.)

Also, Bob, Mike and Wayne Bryan are coming to town for the River Oaks Men's Championship-- Bob and Mike are Seeded #1. Next week will be very busy for us. Mrs. Lang, our bus driver and assistant coach is on stand by -- ready to travel-- in any direction.

Thanks for your concern and support.
