December 29th, 2009: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Grand kids have been keeping me hopping. The grand kids from Poland have been with us since Sunday night----parents in Vegas for 15th Wedding Anniversary-----they will pick up kids in the morning. We have kept them busy between ruckus room, movies, game & play areas, etc.

We get the three girls Friday till Sat. night-- parents going to San Antonio---God daughters parents are having a celebration New Year Eve-- we will go to the church service and some of celebration----this break has flown by.

Family is a joy and alot of hard work.

We picked up one more tennis tournament: New Caney Feb. 26th.

Wanted to say positive things about the new year---and I found this poem that I had in my classroom over five years ago.

YOU!

YOU ARE THE PERSON WHO HAS TO DECIDE WHETHER YOU'LL DO IT OR TOSS IT ASIDE.

YOU ARE THE PERSON WHO MAKES UP YOUR MIND WHETHER YOU'LL LEAD OR LINGER BEHIND.

WHETHER YOU'LL TRY FOR A GOAL THAT IS FAR OR BE CONTENTED TO STAY WHERE YOU ARE.

TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, THERE'S SOMETHING TO DO JUST THINK IT OVER-------IT'S ALL UP TO YOU.

Looking forward to our spring season, district and Bob and Mike coming to River Oaks in April. Our school will be more organized in the Spring Semester. Many positive changes are going to be happening---YOU have to be on task with subject areas and self discipline-- you know that we travel during the week and play all day long. I am sticking with the players from the fall, we have a full team and many dedicated players who will continue to be successful in tennis as well as in life.

Thanks you for adding spice to our lives: Coach Lang and Coach Hrncir
Happy New Year--2010 will be our best year yet!

December 18th, 2009

Today is our last till Jan.----We are suppose to get out at 1:30p.m. ( Usually get out by 11:00 a.m.) Then teachers have a 2:15 meeting with Admin.

Yesterday was a good day--- had tennis players first 2 hours and we all brought food and drinks-games and lots of energy. The weather is bad in Houston so we were in the classroom with Christmas stuff all around us. Mrs. Lang brought lots of goodies yesterday afternoon--we will enjoy them today-- Christmas Video's were nice.

Feel that many will stay home today---- due to last day before holidays--- BUT, it your Teacher says it's OK, come to my classroom--- you need to help me finish the treats.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.

JESUS IS THE THE REASON FOR THE SEASON AND EVERYTHING!

WE ARE BLESSED!

December 7th Snow is Gone & Son spoke to ROTC Students

Sean Dietrich Hrncir, our youngest, spent the day giving back to the ROTC program at North Forest High School. He has just finished five years in the Marines and has reinlisted for four more years.

Students had alot of questions and it was a very positive expereince.

My tennis team joined the ROTC unit to observe and ask questions--- educational event for all concerned.

Tomorrow is Coach Lang's Birthday--- Be sure to write her a positive comment to celebrate-- we will have cup cakes Tues Afternoon during 7th period.

December 4-6, 2009: Texas Tennis Coaches Association Convention!

New Braunfels Texas was beautiful, fall colors, deer grazing and COLD Weather.

Ton Gullikson was the Keynote speaker--- he was very good-----BUT, WAYNE BRYAN, HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE. The fashion show, seminars and vendors were super. Dave Power was great on a Sat. morning at 8a.m with temps. in the 20's. We were freezing but being kind-- could not hear a word with the heaters going. After that, Betty Sue Welch made sure that were moved inside for all other meeting.

Ms. D. Lang and Ruben Hernandez kept me laughing with their adventures. Ruben helps me every year with the players-- he has the youth and desire to be involved--- and I take him to TTCA each year-- he is a blessing to me and our tennis program at NFHS.

Always love the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. Clifton Jansky, a Country and Christian Singer--was outstanding. He gave great information and sang and played for us.-- Christmas songs and my favorite " From Amarillo by Morning to Amazing Grace"
Jesus is not just the reason for the season-- but the reason for everything. Keeps one grounded--- and gives us all a reality check. A super good way to start the day with the last seminars and the three hour trip back to Houston Texas. If you want to know more about him: www.clifton jansky.com

Vonda from G.P. High School shared this tennis spot for us.

Oct. 12th: Women's Conference at the G. R. Brown was GREAT

LOTS OF STRONG WOMEN TALKING ABOUT THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND WHAT WE AS WOMEN CAN ACCOMPLISH. Ten teachers and admin. staff attended with 50 young ladies Thursday-- especially enjoyed Suze Orman-- she was outstanding.

Friday was a slow day for me-- exhausted from all the excitement Wed. and Thursday.

Oct. 11th, 2009

New Caney had a tournament for beginners only----BUT SOME COACHES--- PUT ADVANCED PLAYERS WITH BEGINNERS TO WIN.

THE IDEA WAS GOOD, BUT NOT EVERYONE FOLLOWED THE GUIDELINES.

We were very proud of Roshonda Ross and Xavier Pierce--- They played B Mixed Doubles and won second place--- lost last pro set 6-8. The other team had an ace player with a beginner.

We do our best-----

Everyone player hard and strong and many folks won at least one out of three pro sets. A good experience over all---we had lots of lunch ables, chips, fruit, etc. We made it back in time to catch the bus home and Mrs. H. got her hair done for her adventure tomorrow.

I tried to get out of going with 50 girls to a woman's conference Thursday--- But, after talking to Principal Calhoun , I said yes -- will be glad to go. I am teacher of the year and this is part of my overall experiences. A blessing.

Have not been out of class two days straight in a long time-- Mr. Adams is doing a good job in my classroom.

See everyone Friday.

Check with me tomorrow--- the time is flying.

Thanksgiving is right around the bend.

Oct 30th: 3:30 A.M. SAT. MORNING

Xavier and I enjoyed the football game. Feel that Coach Sean, Coaches & Players are doing their best- life is full of adjustments--- everyone is coming together-- we will be stronger next year.

So thrilled with all the dancers, helpers, band, parents support group & the great turkey legs.

As in any activity--we have to keep knocking on the door. Success comes to those to keep making the effort.

Special thanks to Coach Lang for bringing Halloween cookies, candy and drinks to the players 7th period--a special treat. Ja Marcus, La Shaun, Rachel and Ruben put in a good two hours working out before the football game-- Coach Hrncir had lots of help after school. I kept busy connecting screens that had blown down Thursday with the high wind, cutting grass around the courts and visiting with all the folks around me.

We have our first ever Fall Tennis Tournament Thursday at CE King---- Had two new girls bring all UIL paperwork today--sisters and will add alot to our crew.

Coach Hal is getting bids to resurface our tennis courts--- I have had many promises over the years------Feel that it will be done this school year.

This is my 39th year in education-- planning to go at least one more year-----40 is a good number to retire on----- but it will be difficult to leave my players--- time will tell.

WE LEAVE THE COURTS AT 7:00 A.M. THURSDAY MORNING: INVITE PARENTS-- GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP--GET PERMISSION FORMS TO COACH H SIGNED BY PARENTS AND TEACHERS---SEE YOU AT PRACTICE MONDAY, TUES. AND WED.-- IF ALL THIS RAIN SLOWS DOWN.

Oct. 24th: 2:30 a.m.: We were rained out Wed.

Thursday was a relaxed practice and players stayed after school Friday on their own.

Sara Williamson and I went to the Wake of a special teacher who passed. Mrs. L. Simms was a Homemaking teacher in NFISD for over 30 years and a very special person. We deeply appreciate all that she accomplished in her years of dedication to the education of our children.
Many old and new friends honored her Friday night--a blessing to be loved.

Friday, I was called to the office-- took Jonathan and Krystal-- in case it was about a tournament that I want to attend on the 5th of Nov. The announcer, J. Jermany, read the announcements and finished with a kind tribute to the teacher of the year-(Me)- the first official Bulldog yearbook signed by the staff of North Forest High School-- I said a few words and I was deeply touched by this honor. I am very blessed to be a part of the NFHS family. The last 36 years have been packed with many adventures and blessing.

Thank You for being a big part of my experiences & adventures.

Monday is a make up day for Galena Park-- taking new kids-- to play for fun-- after we finish official matches-----Also, we have a tournament Nov 5th at CE King-- Bringing all players----you should have received paperwork today-- otherwise see me Monday.

October 16th: BUSY WEEK

No matches this week due to a Bye--- which was good.

We play Memorial: Goose Creek Monday and the following Monday is a make up with G.P. There has been too much rain this Fall Season.

TODAY WAS HOMECOMING AND WE WERE TOLD THAT KIDS COULD GET IN FREE WITH GAME SHIRT ON-- That did not happen and many were disappointed. I am sorry-- I had planned to stay, but my husband got locked out of the house taking out trash ( He never takes out trash) I had to head to the house and then I was so exhausted that I fell asleep. Finally got the kids calls, but it was too late. Life always has it's surprises.

We have accepted an invitation to King Tournament Nov. 4th: It is a JV and Freshman Tournament, but the director said that I could bring all my kids. He knows that 75% are beginners. Also, we want to get pictures this Monday for yearbook and Football Games.

Life is never boring.

September 21th: Kingwood Park Tennis Courts; A TERRIBLE STORM CAME ROARING IN WITH LIGHTENING AND DARK CLOUDS

We had started the doubles matches and were about 30 min. into the team tennis doubles and a horn sounded to call off all sports-- storms coming.

WE GOT ON THE BUS AND LEFT-- BY THE TRAFFIC LIGHT WE FOUND OUT THAT THE LIGHTS WERE OUT---MS. LANG DID A GREAT JOB GETTING US OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND THEN-- RIGHT IN FRONT OF US--A PINE TREE FELL-- BY THE GRACE OF GOD- IT MISSED THE BUS BY LESS THAN 12 INCHES. GLASS COULD HAVE BEEN EVERYWHERE AND MS. LANG AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN HURT.

CAME BACK TO OUR SIDE OF TOWN AND THE SUN WAS OUT--- KIDS STAYED TILL 6:00.

WE PLAN TO GO BACK WED. TO MAKE UP WHAT WE MISSED-- IF THE WEATHER PERMITS US TO PLAY.

Aug. 19th: Great Day at Region IV

Great Workshops and you know how Coach H likes to role play-- I was in my element today. All the Health and Physical Educational Teachers in the District met and learned using many learning styles.

Middle School Folks are serious about tennis---- those three courts at North Forest Middle School will be used to teach skills and motivate students to play tennis on the high school level. This is going to be a resource that we have not had before---giving them some of my used balls that Coach Bobby gave us---we want to spread tennis to all the elem. and middle schools in the district.

Now, I am waiting for our courts to be redone-- hopefully soon.

I will be on campus Friday-- teacher work day-- welcome to come up and practice when it is cool---call me on cell and I will set you up with balls and H2O.

Coach Hrncir

Aug. 17th, 2009: First Day: Teacher In Service!

Great Day-- Everyone met together at North Forest Middle School ( Old North Forest High) and the best program in quit a few years. Loved the song--The Man in the Mirror-- Dr. Adrian Johnson used this in asking us to view ourselves and what we need to do to be more successful.

We had some workshops and by 3:00-- I was on the track--doing 3 miles--- I have gained some weight and have to lose it to keep up with my tennis players. Also, re painted our faded tennis rackets on our wall. There is so much to do and so little time. ( When we joined schools last year--we painted our wall a lite type of Vegas gold color to mask the Smiley slogans and names--we wanted our Forest Brook kids to blend in and feel special on our courts)

More workshops tomorrow and Wed. I go to Region IV for the day with my dept. ( closer to my house)

UP AND COMING POSITIVE CHANGES AT NORTH FOREST HIGH SCHOOL--- WORKING TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH MORE. BE READY FOR A GRAND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND A SUPER FALL TENNIS SEASON.

Aug. 6th, 2009: Death of my father in law: Otto Hrncir

My father in law of nearly 39 years passed on to his final reward on August 5th early in the morning. My Dad died over 25 years ago and Otto filled a void that was left when my Dad died at an early age--61,

Otto has been in nursing home in Angleton since he fell and fractured ribs and was in ICU for eleven days. Honey, his wife of 67 years always spent the day with him-( in a nursing home)- getting him to eat-- trying to get him strong enough to come home. This was never to be a reality.

The rosary is at Baker's funeral home in West Columbia Texas--7:00p.m this Friday. The funeral will be at St. John's Church Sat. Morning at 10:00. He will be buried in Rosenburg at 12:30 p.m. on Sat.

Many relatives are coming and our son , Dylan, in Germany in flying 20 hours each way--he has to be back Monday for a conference. Youngest son, Dietrich, will be flying in tonight from Virginia--blessed to have daughter, Dawn, to pick him up at the airport. Blessed to have a strong family who is pulling together to honor Otto Hrncir.

Please remember us in your prayers at this time.

Aug. 1st--- Welcome New Folks

Put up new sign today at tennis courts-- listing our blog.
Hope that we are able to get new tennis players.
Our blog dates back to Jan.--before our trip to Birmingham, Alab.
Fall tennis was great-- best in years-- Spring was great--best in years.
We have dedicated guys that worked hard and strong. Need girls that are dedicated!
We need more players------we will teach you how, but you must practice on your own to be able to compete against other teams.
Contact Coach Hrncir or a tennis player as soon as school starts-- we start practice after school Aug. 29th if you have physical and required UIL paper work. A schedule of our Fall Season was listed about a week ago on this blog.
Coach Hrncir's cell is 713 256 2842
Athletic Office can give you required paper work in advance.
Thanks!
PS: Bob and Mike are in the finals in LA Tournament--- with this win they would have 4th title for 2009 season. Go to their blog to find out more info. www.bobandmike.com

July 31st: Don't forget physicals tomorrow!

If you forgot paper work-----they usually have extra copies.

Planned to put up new sign today on our courts--- but it not only rained-- it poured water.

Ate lunch with a friend and headed home instead of NFHS.

Will try again tomorrow-- lunch planned with Ms. Williamson from the Library.

This is my three weeks to renew friendships and plan for the fall.

The time is flying.

July 29th, 2009: Drug Test for Driving a School Bus

Coach Hrncir took her yearly physical and drug test-- so that I will be legal if I need to drive our school bus to tournaments. It is an event-- 15 bus drivers get on a bus and are bused to Imperial Valley and Beltway-----very organized process--then we head back to the Transportation Center. We get to visit and catch up on all the news and changes for the new school year.

Borrowed an old ladder from the back of ROTC to re hang about a third of our screens on the courts--- usually it is the wind that takes them down. ( yes, I emailed Mr. Dembo that I borrowed it and locked it in our area) Met some football coaches later at Lia's---- working hard for a great football season--suggested that we may have a uniform dress code this year--change is good.

Don't Forget physicals--$15--this Sat.--Aug 1st-- 9 a.m. till 12 noon at the Girl's Gym. May get paperwork in advance from Athletic Office. ( usually closed on Friday)

I am heading to West Columbia today with grandchild, Lien, we will visit with Honey and Otto--Otto is very ill in a nursing home and Honey, wife of 67 years is by his side everyday to try to feed him and encourage him to get better so that he can go home. Otto and Honey have been my in laws for nearly 40 years-- a blessing to our marriage and lives.

Coach D Lang says HI-- she is looking forward to being with us this year---we are blessed.

Hope you read blog with schedule-----team tennis is around the bend.

Keep in touch.

Ordered a new sign for courts:

July 23rd: LAST DAY OF SUMMER SWIMMING LESSONS:JOY & SADNESS

After six weeks of swimming lessons at Klein High-- it is over for another year.

Awesome experiences, especially today. Everyone was so positive and it was hard to say good bye to the children. Kirby & I received gifts, beautiful cards, hugs and lots of positive comments. Our heads were swollen today! Mr. Juan and Mr. Jose kept us together in the pool area--Miss Rosie kept all our paper work straight and the children had fun and were worn out by the end of the class. There were allot of smiles to go around. One of our Dad's is the Band Man-- he is in charge of a leadership camp for the youth at Klein High-- he brought his group over to watch his own children swim-------Made everyone in the pool feel like we were special--- never had such a crowd before----everyone worked extra hard to impress our fans.

Photos & ribbons were given out and we smiled for all the folks with camera's.

Swimming is just like Tennis: Fun, Family, Forever, Fighting & Focused!

AGAIN, THANK YOU ALL FOR A GREAT 14TH SUMMER TEACHING FOR KISD.

Isn't it strange-?- when you start pulling everything together--- almost time to retire.

Not yet for me, I get allot of joy from what I do. I am blessed.

Thanks for the MEMORIES.

SUMMER SWIMMING LESSONS: A NET SUCCESS

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK OF MY YEARLY SWIMMING LESSONS. We have been at Klein High this year and we have been packed. Alot of great kids, parents and grandparents. Coach Teague's daughter, Kirby, has been a big help. She is very athletic and works well with everyone, especially the children.

I am exhausted after six weeks, five hours a day, four days a week. There is a special joy in doing something different and seeing the kids mature and develop skills to last a life time. Always joy at the end of the session--- really push the kids to go up and down the pool without the board-- they have the skills--- just need to believe and give it a try--- majority really step out of the box. After fourteen years of teaching for KISD in the summer, I can say that the environment is positive, the kids really want to learn and I love the indoor pools. ( My friend Marg. made me take life saving at SHSU over 40 years ago & I still love to swim and teach swimming-- friends can be a positive influence! Thanks Marg. Brown)

Life has been opportunities and one has to step out of the box to enjoy.

I am looking forward to our fall and spring tennis seasons. I know that my players have been working hard and I hope we get more players who want to work hard, play, have fun & achieve. We welcome Coach Lang to our tennis family-- new assistant tennis coach.

Be sure to support Bob and Mike-- US Open is around the corner. So many activities before the tournament---always check out www.bobandmike.com for more info.

July 21st, 2009: We are all going to use sun tan lotion in the Fall & Spring on the Tennis Courts!

My husband, who is not a out door person, had a common form of skin cancer removed yesterday. Basal Cell Carcinoma: occurs most frequently on sun exposed regions of the body. The location was his head and it took three hours to remove and to go in twice to make sure all the cancer was removed. I was there and I pray that they got it all. This is what I want to believe. The Dr. gave us facts on this type of cancer and the importance of using UV protection at all times. I am the outside person-- usually 3 to 4 hours in the afternoon---will be more aware of the importance of sun block.

Be sure to keep up on all the US Open activities that are happening in the tennis world.

Teachers go back Aug. 17th-- You can pick up paperwork in advance from athletic office-----physical, acknowledgement of rules, emergency card, Steroids release, etc---- Must have it before first matches and we start Sept. 7th--We will go to Barbers Hill.

Sept. 14 : Crosby
Sept. 21: Kingwood Park
Sept. 28th Galena Park
Oct 5: CE King
Oct 12: Bye
Oct 19: Memorial

We usually travel there due to our lack of tennis courts that are safe.

July 13th: Davis Cup Dreams end for the US Team

" The United States Team was ousted from the Davis Cup and left to wonder how it might have gone had Andy Roddick been around to pelt opponents with his laser serve."

" Roddick was unavailable because of hip injury after losing a five set final to Roger Federer at Wimbledon"

Bob won in singles and doubles with brother Mike. Total match scores was two for USA and three for Croatia. Croatia goes to the semi finals.

THANK YOU USA TEAM FOR BEING THERE FOR THE USA AND GIVING IT YOUR BEST SHOT. YOUR DEDICATION IS BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY TO YOUR COUNTRY!

Marty Fish will be taking Andy Roddick's place on the Davis Cup team in Croatia this weekend.

No details were given.

USTA says on their web site that they will have live coverage starting Friday. Check it out.

Last day of session II summer swimming at Klein Forest is going strong. Kids and parents are great-- such a relief to see the kids put the skills together and take off down the pool. Everyone clapping and shouting----I tell the kids not to smile--they will drink up all my water! Ha-- they laugh at my Corney jokes.

See Mr. Teague every day-- Kirby is still helping me-- a blessing.

Hope that you have had a racket in your hand this summer. August is around the corner.

July 5th-- BULLDOG PROUD OF OUR DAVIS CUP TEAM--HEADING TO CROATIA NEXT WEEKEND

Wimbledon, England: OUR USA DAVIS CUP TEAM WERE OUTSTANDING! BOB, MIKE & ANDY LOST IN THE FINALS AND PLAYED TOUGH AND STRONG. If you missed the matches-- you missed a big thrill. JAMES BLAKE & MARTY FISH WERE IN THE SEMI FINALS IN DOUBLES.

THESE OUTSTANDING YOUNG MEN ARE HEADED TO CROATIA TO REPRESENT US IN THE THE DAVIS CUP. If you will notice, many other players will not step forward and go the extra mile. This group gave us #1 in 2007-- first time in over 12 years---We want a REPEAT!

We are very proud of these young men's accomplishments and know that they will continue to do their best to accomplish their goals.

July 3rd: Bob and Mike are in the FINALS AT WIMBLEDON

HOPE THAT YOU CAN WATCH THE FINALS.

Bob and Mike play D. Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in the finals Sat. We have met D. Nestor before at Westside. Very nice person-- told me in a positive way that if my players were rooting for him and partner--they would have won. Needless to say , we have been the adopted school of the Wayne Bryan Family for nine years-- we root for Bob and Mike all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, Venus and Serena will play each other for the Wimbledon title.

Andy Roddick-- another great member of the Davis Cup Team--- will play Andy Murray for a shot at the singles title Sunday.

Hope that Bob and Mike will defeat the team that beat James Blake and Mardy Fish----

We are rooting for the Americans!! Especially the Davis Cup team members: Andy, Bob, Mike and James Blake.

June 30, 2009 Wimbledon & Swimming Classes

Go to www.bobandmike.com to catch the latest news on Wimbledon. As a doubles team they are in the semi finals and both are playing in mixed doubles and going strong.

Today the paper is talking about Murray winning in five sets against Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka. Wawrinka played for Switzerland in the Davis cup in March. We got to watch him up close and personal--excellent player.

Session II in swimming classes are going strong. Had to start another class at 7:20 in the morning-- more balanced and less stress. After six classes I am ready to eat and nap.
Kirby Teague, our Mr. Teague's daughter, is helping me. She and brother Matthew took classes a few years ago and she comes back to help. It is a small world after all.

In my life time, I have seen in person, Elvis, Jackson Five and the Beatles. Needless to say, the death of Michael Jackson at 50 is tragic. Life is so precious and we must value each day.

Saturday, June 27, 2009: Wimbledon

Yesterday Bob & Mike won in the second round against J. Brunstrom and J. Rojer: 6-0, 6-2 6-4,

Roger Federer lost one set.

Serena Williams almost didn't make it to her court on time--What happened? Was waiting for an escort--- In the past she always had an escort come and get her-- let's go. Good that she went out in time--- won 6-3 and 6-4.

Today Venus Williams plays Carla Suarez Navarro from Spain. Hewitt ( who won the River Oaks Tournament in April of 09) will play Philipp Perzchner of Germany.

Suggest, always read the Chronicle-- have good coverage.

Continue to be a new success.

June 25th, 2009: SWIMMING/WIMBLEDON

Today was the last day of Session One-- Summer Swimming Classes at Klein High School.

Parents, students and admin. worked together for a a great eight days. Beg. I, Beg. II, Beg. I, Beg.II & Advanced. Students and Coach took lots of photos and we smiled & smiled. We had a great learning experience in a short amount of time. Session II starts Monday, June 29th and I am booked solid. So booked that I am teaching a 7:20a.m. class for Beg. II and Adv. combined. I am more of a morning person. After teaching 6 classes, I leave at 12:10. Works for me. (Session three is also closed, over booked--hard to say no to repeat folks year after year)

HAVE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP WITH WIMBLEDON?

Hope that you have been able to watch many of the matches. Just reading an article about Maria Sharapova and her come back after shoulder surgery.

Keep me in the know, August will be here before we know it. Be careful of the heat---thank goodness that I am in an indoor pool and the temp. is 82 with fans and open garage doors. Perfect for me--remember, my classroom did not have air for seven months. This is a great change of pace for me.

June, 19th, 2009

Session I and the first week of teaching swimming at Klein High went swimmingly well.

Kids want to learn and love it when I am the shark. I love to bite toes.

Five more weeks to go. Husband goes with me and helps with parents and paperwork-- I teach for four hours and 5 classes--then I take him out to eat and I nap for 3 hours-- works for me.

Don't forget that Wimbledon starts the 22nd of June. Be sure to watch and root for Bob and Mike Bryan. This family has been very good to us over the last nine plus years. Know that they will come on strong and hard. This is their time to be a net success! Nadal may be out due to ailing knees. Lost to Hewitt in an exhibition yesterday--- remember Hewitt won in River Oaks Tournament in April when Bob and Mike won first place in doubles.

"Obviously a difficult start to the day. Very strange loss," Bob Bryan said. " Heart breaker. Unexplainable." Then he went out and teamed with Houston resident Liezel Huber to win the mixed doubles title.

June 4th, 2009: Inaugural Commencement Exercises: Class of 2009 North Forest High School

Coach Hrncir found out Thursday morning that she was suppose to be on the stage at graduation as Teacher of the Year. Dr. Barlett, 08-09 Teacher of Year, loaned me a black gown and I ran to the store for a pair of black heels. Connie & Sara helped me get checked out and got me organized. I did get checked out before graduation.

Ariel Brown, 4 year tennis player and senior class president, was the Mistress of ceremony-- I was so proud. Joshua Fleming and Tim Edwards-- top two senior guys with me for 4 years-- also marched. Proud of my seniors and it was such a good feeling to be on the stage.

Our Guest Speaker was U.S. Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee--18th Congressional District of Texas. She was outstanding in her presentation. She involved the students, they are number one and they are the first NFHS Class--we survived combining schools and IKE--we can survive anything that life has to offer.

I REALLY ENJOYED THE ADVENTURE & WAS SO PROUD OF MY SCHOOL AND DISTRICT.
Shelia Jackson held my hand and thanked me for teaching our children.

To top that off, our daughter, Dawn, works for GSA on the 16th floor and wanted me to tell her that her staff was very nice.

This is a small world-- and it takes a village.

Son from the marines is home for two weeks and we are taking a brief vacation to Seaworld.
Summer Swimming classes start at Klein High this year on June 15th. My 14th year-- the time does fly.

Tennis players, keep me up on your adventures this summer. You have my numbers and e mail.
Be Safe.

April 28th: School OutEarly Due to severe rain and high water. April 29th: BOB & MIKE'S 31ST BIRTHDAY!

April 28th: TAKS Test was cancelled and students went home around 10 a.m. and teachers could leave at 11 a.m. Severe high water and little drainage were the main reasons. We will have to make up this day in the summer. Ugh. (I got a great nap)

P.S. Forgot to tell you about my 61st Birthday April 23rd. It was a great day. Flowers, cards and many hugs were unique on that day. It is a blessing to have great players and students who care about you. Great celebration.

April 29th: BOB & MIKE BRYAN'S 31ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
WE SENT MATCHING ELVIS CARDS SIGNED BY PLAYERS!
WE ARE GRATEFUL THAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FOLLOW BOB AND MIKE FOR NEARLY TEN YEARS. We remember when we watched them play on the side court at Westside---a thrill---it is still a thrill today to support them at River Oaks & Davis Cup . We are blessed to have a professional tennis family care about our program and our players.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB & MIKE BRYAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#1 ALWAYS TO US!

Busy time since Bob & Mike were in Town at River Oaks

April 27th, 2009
Tennis Players still practice after school and I walk the track.
JaMarcus gave us a scare--- passed out in a classroom-- Mom took him to Dr. and usual tests, CAT Scan and MRI--everything checked out ok. Ja Marcus and Barkari want to go pro and sometimes forget to eat at lunch, stay after school and go to local courts to work on skills. We have to balance all aspects of Health.
A week ago Monday, Mr. Mc Shan, member of the Board of Directors, came to the courts to meet my players and see first hand what we practice on-- courts over 30 years old in dire need of repair. Hopefully his promises will become real before I die. Seemed very sincere!
Few folks owe me tennis clothes-- majority A OK.
Video taping of classroom went well last Friday-- also took photos outside under a big tree.
This last weekend, my father in law celebrated his 90th Birthday. A Blessing. Has been in the hospital, broken ribs, nicked artery and damaged lung. His new location is " Country Living" in Angleton. Mother in Law goes up every day to feed him and encourage him to work hard to get better. Alot of family attended his celebration Sunday--- a great experience.
This is TAKS Week-- We are ready!

4/11/09 BOB & MIKE WON FIRST PLACE IN DOUBLES: CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIP: RIVER OAKS

We were so proud to watch Bob and Mike win tonight. It was our 4th day at River Oaks in five days and we knew that this day was coming.

We were there in 03 and 04 when they won the Masters at Westside. So glad to be part of the action at River Oaks this week.

Again, we made connections with folks who love tennis. My seniors were able to talk to the P.V. Coach about starting in the Fall. Talked to Wayne's sister, Sara and her husband and daughter from Calif. We had met before in Portland a couple of years ago. So many great folks came out to cheer for Bob and Mike. Also, talked to a man who is going to donate rackets to our program. Wayne, Bob & Mike made us feel so special all week. Dreams do come true.

We are living our dreams on and off the tennis courts.

Have a Blessed Easter.

Love, Coach Hrncir & North Forest Tennis Crew

CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIP: TENNIS: BOB & MIKE ARE IN TOWN: SUMMARY OF APRIL 14, 15, & 17: ROOTING FOR THE BRYAN BROTHERS:

Ms. Lang and I have taken players every night to support and Bryan Brothers. This benevolent tennis family adopted our tennis program over nine years ago and they have opened many doors for us over the years.

River Oaks is a beautiful place to watch professional tennis. The people are friendly and the tennis is beyond description. We have cheered and rooted for our adopted family. Dad, Wayne Bryan ,has always met us and made sure we had a great quest. We have watched Bob and Mike warm up, been fed by the Wayne Bryan, met alot of nice folks who also love tennis and have gotten lots of autographs from the pros playing. A variety of personal objects were signed and the players were thrilled. Parents & Administration has been very understanding, due to the fact that we have watched 4 to 7 hours of tennis all three days. School police are always waiting to get us safely home.

We gave Wayne Bryan the Excellence Award from the NFISD Board of Directors last night. Our two seniors, Camille & Joshua did a great job. Wayne and family appreciated everything that we do and inspire us to be the best. We are proud to be their adopted school in Houston Texas.

We were at the Masters at Westside when Bob and Mike won two years straight, but they have never won the Clay Courts. We strongly feel that they will take the Clay Court Title tonight at 6:00 p.m. We are looking forward to this afternoon--(I am getting better at all the texting that I am receiving from my players and parents.) We are all excited about the possibility that could and will occur tonight at River Oaks Country Club.

It is not too late to get tickets------ we would love to see the stadium completely full of folks--- this is history happening. Today's back to back singles semifinals and the doubles final will be televised live by the Tennis Channel.

We will get back with you tomorrow concerning our quest this Sat. afternoon.

Wayne Bryan's wallet is a little light this week, but that's the price a man pays when he decides to befriend an entire high school tennis team. Make that an entire hungry high school tennis team. Bryan has become a huge supporter of coach Loretta Hrncir's gang at North Forest High School, where tennis doesn't get much funding. Bryan invited the whole gang out to the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships Tuesday, then took them to the Beck's Prime tent for hamburgers.

Previously, he has picked up the expenses for Hrncir & a couple of her players to attend two Davis Cup ties, the final in Portland where the Americans won the cup in 2007 after a 12 year drought and last month's first rounder against the Swiss in Birmingham. " I had to buy at least 15 burgers, maybe 20,",he said of the feeding frenzy. " Good thing I brought my credit card. I love these kids, and I love Loretta. What a great job she does. We'll do it again."

PS: Bob and Mike received the ATP World Tour.com " Fan Favorite Award" for the fourth consecutive year Thursday night. WOW--- WHAT A THRILL! BULLDOG PROUD.

April 6th: Crazy Day for District: High Winds & No Ride!

Started off with problems concerning transportation. Some how we were forgotten. So we made adjustments and got everything worked out. Barbers Hill Director waited for our players.

Johnathan, LaShun and Joshua made it out of the first round of district tennis. Bakari & JaMarcus lost to the 2nd seed from Barbers Hill. Both guys were over six feet and rushed the net-- with the wind-- we could not keep the ball in and get it over their heads. Bakari & JaMarcus fought back to win a few games. We wish Barbers Hill and Kingwood Park the best on their quest for regionals in Huntsville.( Very hard district in which to compete)

Everyone gave their best and this has been the best year for me in a long time. It is a joy to see players grow, mature, learn and take responsibility. Ms. Lang & I enjoyed our journey this year.

BOB AND MIKE BRYAN ARE IN TOWN AT RIVER OAKS; MEN'S CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIPS. Dad, Wayne Bryan is the Announcer, and we are looking forward to our next quest. We leave at 3:45 p.m. in Bob and Mike Shirts , jeans & tennis shoes from the tennis courts. Want to catch James Blake at 6:00 and Bob and Mike at 7:30 p.m. Wayne Bryan always highlights us as their adopted high school and we feel so very special. We are blessed to have this family in our lives.

Thanks for reading our blog and being involved in our piece of the world.

April 4th: It is quiet before the storm!

We had our last week of after school practice and all went well. Johanthan & LaShun stayed after Friday to work out and I walked two miles on the track. ( Yes, my ankles are swollen today-- feel the pain) Husband called and said that we were needed to take the Lien to Karate Practice and of course, Mai tagged along. Lien is six and I am floored by the progress she has made over the last year. Mai (4 years)and I found the pool--- yes, I said pool in a middle school in Cy Fair. We were very interested in the activities. This will be my 14th year to teach in KISD-- summer swimming program. I am always looking for ways to improve this summer program. This year we will not be at Klein Forest-- but, will be at Klein High School. There was a bond passed and they are making improvements on the Klein Forest Pool. I thought that it was perfect. ( closer to my house and husband taught there 26 years) Life is change and one has to be flexible.

Gave my booster talk to my players Thursday and Friday. We have an opportunity --the best in four years-- to place and be able to go to Regionals in Huntsville. On any given day-- someone wins and someone loses-- we have worked hard all year and the dedication and determination is within my players. Either way-- it has been a great tennis year-- and we will be working just as hard next year. We know that we have been blessed with folks that care about us and want us to be successful on the court and off the court. ( District in Monday in Barbers Hill-- going to be a long day and possible playback Tues.)

Also, Bob, Mike and Wayne Bryan are coming to town for the River Oaks Men's Championship-- Bob and Mike are Seeded #1. Next week will be very busy for us. Mrs. Lang, our bus driver and assistant coach is on stand by -- ready to travel-- in any direction.

Thanks for your concern and support.

3/27.09: Splendora Tennis Tournament: Three Locations: Caney Creek High,Splendora & New Caney High: 14 Schools Participated

The weather co operated most of the time. We would stop and start again when the drops came down. Ms Lang, pro bus driver and my assistant coach, and I stayed at Caney Creek and the other players kept in touch by cell phone. Seemed like our doubles teams played the hardest teams the first round-- therefore, they ended up in the finals in consolation. Bakari & Ja Marcus lost 9 -7 to Tarkington--they played hard and strong----just was not our day-- rather take the loss today and improve for district, which is April 6th at Barbers Hill-- we are ranked 3rd in A Boy's Doubles-- Kingwood Park and Barbers Hill have super strong teams----we have super strong teams and we are striving for excellence.

Johnathan & La Shun are B Boys Doubles and they also, played strong ( When they got warmed up--they are 9th graders who have made so many steps forward since they joined our group around Christmas time-- they are on the courts till 5 or 6 every afternoon) Finals in B Doubles.

SENIORS: CAMILLE BISOR & TIMOTHY EDWARDS brought home the medals in mixed doubles. They have missed part of team tennis season and regular season due to their desire to pass TAKS--Tennis is #2--- TAKS is #1.

All eleven players worked hard and made us very proud of them. They gave up going for afternoon snacks ( We provide food during the day) so that Senior Allen Jefferson, could make it to his job on time.

Everyone contributes and respects each others needs and wants. Ms. Lang & I enjoyed our day in the piney woods at Caney Creek High School.

We are looking forward to district.

Found a new slogan that I like: What matters is the trip--- and the sights along the way!

Special thanks to senior, Joshua, for coming Friday. He received an award in the UIL Play the night before-- had little sleep and still won in the first round in the tournament. Then we let him rest--- he was exhausted.

March 23rd: Seeding Meeting & School Board Meeting

March 23rd was a busy day.

Coach Hrncir went to Barbers Hill for district seeding meeting concerning district, which starts April 6th at Barbers Hill. Ja Marcus and Bakari are seeded 3rd, Barbers Hill & Kingwood Park are 1st and 2nd. It is going to be tough and we have been in these situations before. We have a good group of kids-- and they will give it their all---either way, it has been a great year.

I flew back to the tennis courts, brushed my teeth & drove to the Board Room. Ms. Lang had already drove the kids to the Administration Building.( She is the most on task assistant coach & bus driver that I have ever had) Our high school boy's basketball team, football team and tennis team were awarded Excellence Awards. Our Award goes to the Wayne Bryan Family-- they have opened up so many doors for us over the last nine years and we are thankful.
Mr. Russell LOVED the excellent award and wants to display it in the trophy case at North Forest High School. I have contacted our communications person and she will mail the Wayne Bryan Family the exact award. This is the third or fourth award to his family in the last nine years. NFISD knows that we have accomplished alot due to this outstanding benevolent tennis family. We are deeply thankful for their generosity.

A special thank you to Annetta Stoneham for coming and sharing this special celebration with us. Mrs. Stoneham and I taught together for nearly 15 years and she is the one that recommended me for the head position in tennis. She is a good friend, great educator, and super tennis coach. She mentored me and helped me to strive for seemingly unattainable goals. I am very blessed.

We are going to the Splendor Tournament at New Caney High School Friday. Just hope that the bad weather does not wash out our tournament. This is the last one until district.

Special thanks to Bakari, Joshua, Ana & Samantha for showing their leadership and co operation Monday. ( They followed directions-- practice-- snacks-- bus to the Admin. building with Ms. Lang)We looked great at the Board Meeting in our Bob and Mike Shirts. All were on task. Again, thank you Ms. Lang, you are one of a kind & deeply appreciated.

March 12th: Results CE King Tournament & Surprise Celebration for Coach Hrncir: Teacher of the Year at NFHS

P. Dodd of CE King was smart to switch the Varsity Tournament from the 12th to the 11th. He studied the weather reports and knew that a storm was coming in. Good news was that we shorten the sets Wed. and was able to get alot of tennis played before the weather changed.
Bakari, JaMarcus and Joshua got 3rd place and Tim Edwards & Camille Bisor won consolation.
Others placed, but we played so many sets that I got confused-- Coach Dodd will forward to me when he figures it out. A good time was had by all.

March 12th: During my 6th period conference, two tennis players came to interview me for Ms. Jermany-- questions about the honor of being Campus Teacher of the Year at NFHS. Then an ex student called me about coming to tennis courts and the school nurse wanted to walk in the rain to the tennis courts to talk to me about a student and my dedication to my players. When I opened the upstairs press box & the lock was not locked-- ( I thought-- those baseball coaches forgot to lock up--darn them) and all the players, Mrs. Lang, Ms. McCoy and an assistant to Mrs. Lang was there to yell surprise. I was screaming-- I was shocked and thrilled at the same time. THIS WAS A BEAUTIFUL CELEBRATION. Parents, players, teachers and staff had donated money, a goodie peace bag which contained so many treats, food, fruit, gorgeous plant, beautiful cake, made my Mrs. Lang---teacher of the year script on top, etc. Needless to say I am sincerely touched by every ones kindness and good wishes. Loved the card signed by everyone-- by Maya Angelou: "A joyful spirit is evidence of a grateful heart. " I have taught in NFISD for 35 years and I can honestly say it has been a great adventure. There are many people that appreciate all that we have been able to accomplish with the help of everyone working together. We are thankful for the Wayne Bryan Family, super teachers, administrators, staff, school board and all the people who have been along for the journey & touched our lives.

March 23rd: Don't Forget: Practice after school--will have great sandwiches & drinks--then with Bob and Mike Shirts and Jeans get on the School Bus with Mrs. Lang & Ms. Smith. You will travel to the Board Room of NFISD-- We will be acknowledged by the Board and Bakari and JaMarcus will briefly thank everyone for allowing us to travel to the Davis Cup and briefly share experiences. Joshua who went two years ago will speak briefly. Parents will be there and other High School support staff. Coach Hrncir has a 3:30 seeding meeting at Barbers Hill--hopefully I will be back by 7:00p.m.-- but I cannot be sure. Know that I leaving my players in good hands with great folks who will continue to help us be successful.

Happy Spring Break!

March 9th, 2009--Going back home to H Town

We checked out of the hotel at 4:30 a.m and off to the airport we went. Small airport, but long line and no person to check in bags-----after we checked in bags( a 20 min. wait) and did the security thing--- bought a newspaper and got loaded on the plane. ( Some folks told me a small airport---you can be there at 5 :30 a.m.-- glad that I went a little early) When we got back to Houston, we all got confused--especially me---We parked in Terminal C and took tram to B early Friday morning-- I had it backwards--thought we parked in B and took tram to C. A nice man in a white truck helped us solve our situation. I was born and raised in Houston Texas and I still get confused and especially with all our adventures over the last three days-- Give me a break. We took everything in stride. Life lessons occur every day.

Then I get a e mail to change Thursday Tournament to Wed. due to bad weather coming.
We will adapt. Life is change. Thanks for following our quest.

We will be blogging about our last two tournaments, district & regional play offs, & Bob and Mike coming to H town in April 6th for Men's Claycourt Championships. If you are interested, River Oaks has some tickets left--better get them in advance before they sell out. Wayne Bryan will be the emcee and Bob & Mike are ranked #1 in Doubles. Hope to see you there.

Thanks, Coach Hrncir

Day 3 March 8, 2009 Davis Cup

This is Bakari blogging from Birmingham Alabama. I met some new friends Ray,coach Joe, Emily and including Wayne and all his crew. An awesome victory to the U.S team . I congratulate the Bryan brothers , Andy Roddick and James Blake for there outstanding victory. Best of all I thank my terrific tennis coach Mrs. Hrncir.

Hello! This is JaMarcus blogging to you one last time before we head back home. Congradulations to team U.S team for there outstanding victory. It was a great pleasure seeing you in action this weekend. Also I'd like to give thanks to Wayne Bryan, Bob and Mike Bryan, Coach Joe, Susan, Randy, David and the rest of Waynes crew for everything and all the support they have given us over the past years. Most of all of all I'd like to thank Coach Hrncir for her love and care. She has kept me going strong for three years.

This is Coach Hrncir: We had a great day--- Andy won in three sets-- third set was a tie breaker. The crowd went wild when everyone realized that the USA won-- and would be moving to the next round. James won two out of three sets. We really enjoyed our experiences. Birmingham is a beautiful city who knows how to treat visitors-- we felt such warmth--
Would strongly recommend a visit, if you not tied up with Davis Cup for three days.
We experienced memories that will last a life time for me, Bakari & Ja Marcus. Special thanks to everyone that touched our lives during the Davis Cup in Birmingham, Al.

Houston Texas-- we are coming home.

March 8th, 3rd Day-9:40 a.m.--JMan & Baco Bites are hitting with pro Joe G. & his Tennis Crew

Gooood Morning--- This is Coach Hrncir
Got up early to hit the exercise room and talk with many great early birds across the country that have come together for the love of tennis and to support the USA. Young, old and in between-- they all have the same great spirit. It really has been a joy to be in such a positive tennis environment.

Saw Wayne and his crew this a.m. at breakfast. Everyone is excited about the Davis Cup and what will happen today---I am taking a few min. to reflect on this adventure. J Man & Baco Bites have really grown in their knowledge of tennis. They was gotten involved in everything--going with Wayne and Crew to Junior drills and thrills Sat. morning and this morning--ready to go and hit with Joe G & his tennis crew. Hard for me to stay in the know with their busy schedules.

Today will be a great day!!!!!!!!! We leave tomorrow early in the a.m. Our flight is at 6:00a.m. and I am assured that if we leave the hotel at 4:30---- we will have plenty of time. Airport is 7 min. away-----don't want to cut it too close-- anything could go wrong--- want to have that extra time.We are adjusting to the time change and the weather here is beautiful--- but---

Special thanks to USTA for helping us along the way. Also, special thanks to the Wayne Bryan Family was letting us go along on this great quest. We have memories to last a life time!

All three of us will bog tonight after the matches. Thank you for reading our blogs-- thank you for your support & encouragement. We do make a difference in N.F.I.S.D.
